VACUUM METALLIZING COATINGS - VBW-4900

VBW-4900 COSMETIC RESISTANT WATER REDUCIBLE VM BASECOAT

DESCRIPTION

VBW-4900 is a High Solids Water Reducible VM Basecoat that is ideally suited for Basecoat and Chemical Resistant Topcoat applications. Among its attributes; VBW-4900 provides exceptional adhesion to ABS, Metals, Polycarbonate and surface treated Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Phenolic.

In addition, VBW-4900 provides optimum brilliance, flow, chemical resistance and optical properties. Due to the high solids level of this coating, VBW-4900 allows for a high degree of flexibility in reduction schedules, making it ideally suited for smooth and rough substrate applications.

VBW-4900 has been specifically designed for low V.O.C. Cosmetic as well as general purpose Metallizing applications and provides superior physical properties in a Water Base VM Coating.

APPLICATION

REDUCTION: Reduce by as much as 3:1 with water for Basecoat applications. Reduce by as much as 2:1 with Water for use as a Topcoat.

METHOD: Apply by conventional and HVLP Spray.

TOPCOAT PROPERTIES

WATER SOAK: No evidence of blistering, whitening of the coating surface or loss of adhesion after 24 hours emersion at 104 degrees F., and 5 minutes recovery.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE: No evidence of blistering, cracking, whitening of the coating surface or loss of adhesion after 24 hours emersion in a various cosmetics, at ambient temperature.

HUMIDITY: No evidence of cracking of the coating surface, shrinkage or whitening of the coating surface after 24 hours at 104 degrees F., and 98% relative humidity.

CURE CYCLE

For Basecoat applications, flash off 15 minutes, followed by a 90 minute cure at a minimum part temperature of 185 degrees F., to as much as 295 degrees F., depending on substrate and film thickness at application. For use as a Topcoat, flash of 15 minutes, followed by a 90 minute cure at a minimum part temperature of 185 degrees F.

STORAGE

Store in tightly sealed containers, at ambient temperatures. Protect from moisture, evaporation and foreign materials. Process ability of this product can be adversely affected by evaporation and contamination.

SHELF LIFE

6 months, provided materials are kept in sealed original containers under specified conditions. Storage beyond this period can produce higher viscosities.
